Why Our Floors Last
The Job Is Won or Lost in the Preparation
A coating is only ever as good as what’s underneath it. We diamond-grind every slab, test for moisture, repair cracks and prime — the unglamorous steps that separate a 10-year floor from one that peels in months. It’s the corner cheap operators cut, and the reason we don’t.
- Diamond grinding to CSP 2–3
- Moisture testing
- Structural crack repair
- Penetrating primer
How We Coat Your Floor
A disciplined, preparation-first process on every job — single garage or full warehouse.
- 01
Free On-Site Quote
We visit your Sydney property, assess the floor area and condition, discuss the coating system options, and provide a written fixed-price quote. No obligation.
- 02
Surface Preparation
We diamond-grind the concrete to the correct profile, test for moisture, repair any cracks or damage, and apply primer. This step decides whether your floor lasts 10 years or 10 months.
- 03
Base Coat Application
The epoxy base coat is applied to the prepared surface. For flake systems, decorative chips are broadcast at this stage. For metallic systems, pigment and metallic powder are worked into the wet coat.
- 04
Topcoat & Sealing
A clear polyurethane or polyaspartic topcoat is applied for protection, sheen and slip resistance. This is the surface you see and walk on.
- 05
Cure & Handover
Light foot traffic typically within 24 hours, full vehicle or heavy traffic within 72 hours. We walk through the finished floor with you and leave the site clean.
Buyer’s Guide
Which Coating System Is Right for You?
Flake, metallic, solid colour, polyaspartic, epoxy mortar or anti-slip — each system has its strengths. Our plain-English guide compares durability, cost, UV stability and cure time so you can choose with confidence.
What Sydney Homeowners Say
Real projects across Sydney, from single garages to multi-thousand-square-metre floors.
“Dean talked me through the prep before he quoted, which no one else did — turns out my slab had a few cracks that needed proper repair. The team ground it back, fixed everything and the flake floor looks like a showroom. Two years on and the hot tyres haven’t marked it at all.”
“We wanted something special for the garage since it’s where my husband keeps his cars. The metallic floor is genuinely stunning — it looks like flowing charcoal and silver and everyone who visits comments on it. Jared clearly knew exactly what he was doing.”
“Great communication from quote to finish. They did the garage and carried the same flake into the laundry so it flows. Clean, on time, and they left the site spotless. The floor wipes clean in seconds now.”
What Commercial Clients Say
Real projects across Sydney, from single garages to multi-thousand-square-metre floors.
“Priya staged the job across three weekends so we never stopped dispatching. The new floor handles our forklifts and pallet jacks without a mark, and the line marking has tidied up our whole traffic flow. Professional from quote to handover.”
“We needed a seamless, hygienic floor for the kitchen that would pass our food-safety audit. They installed it with coved skirting over a weekend so we didn’t lose trade. The anti-slip is spot on for a busy wet kitchen and it cleans up perfectly.”
“The metallic showroom floor has completely lifted the space — customers notice it the moment they walk in. Installed in sections around our opening hours with zero fuss. Genuinely the best trade we’ve dealt with on a fit-out.”
Common Questions
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes. Every quote is a free, no-obligation on-site visit. We come to your Sydney property, assess the floor area and condition, discuss the coating system options, and provide a written fixed-price quote — there’s no charge and no pressure.
What areas of Sydney do you service?
We’re based in Smithfield and service all of Sydney and Greater Western Sydney, including the Hills District, the South-West growth corridor, the Inner West, the North Shore and the St George/Sutherland areas. If you’re unsure whether we cover your suburb, just call and ask.
How long has Ironclad Floor Solutions been operating?
We’ve been coating floors across Sydney since 2011 — more than a decade of residential garages, decorative floors and large commercial and industrial projects. We’re a Master Builders NSW member and a Sika Flooring Approved Applicator.
Are you insured and warrantied?
Yes. We carry $20 million in public liability insurance and back every floor with a 10-year written warranty against delamination and workmanship defects. The same standards apply whether it’s a single garage or a multi-thousand-square-metre warehouse.
Why is surface preparation so important?
Because it’s the single biggest factor in whether a floor lasts. A coating bonded to a properly diamond-ground, moisture-tested, repaired slab will last for years; one applied over a quick acid wash or a damp, dusty slab can peel within months. We never cut the corner customers can’t see.
What’s the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic?
Epoxy is a thick, economical, rigid build coat but cures slowly and can yellow in UV. Polyaspartic (an aliphatic polyurea) cures much faster and stays UV-stable. Many of our floors combine both — an epoxy build coat with a polyaspartic topcoat — for the best of both.
