About Solid Colour Epoxy Flooring

Solid colour epoxy flooring delivers a clean, uniform, single-colour finish for homeowners who want a crisp, modern, commercial-style floor without the speckle of flake or the artistry of metallic. It’s a high-build pigmented epoxy applied seamlessly across the slab, sealed with a tough clear or tinted topcoat. The look is sharp and minimal — a favourite for contemporary garages, laundries, studios, gyms, storage rooms and any utility space where you want a hard, easy-clean surface in a colour that matches the home.

Because there’s no flake to hide imperfections, solid colour systems put extra emphasis on preparation. We diamond-grind the slab to a uniform profile, fill and fair any cracks, pits and trowel marks, moisture-test, and prime — so the finished surface reads as flat and even as possible. Any unevenness in the substrate shows more in a solid colour than in a flake floor, which is exactly why we’re meticulous about the grind and the repair stage before a drop of colour goes down.

A wide range of colours is available, from light, space-brightening greys and beiges to deep charcoals and even safety colours for workshops. The topcoat can be matched for gloss level — a high gloss for a showroom shine, or a satin for a softer, less reflective look — and anti-slip aggregate can be added for grip in wet areas. The seamless, pore-free surface wipes clean, resists oil and chemicals, and brightens the whole space by reflecting light, which is a real bonus in a dim garage or internal room.

Solid colour is also the most cost-effective of our decorative systems, making it a smart choice for larger areas or budget-conscious projects that still want a genuine, durable epoxy floor rather than a paint. It’s completed in a similar timeframe to a flake floor — two to three days for a typical garage — and carries the same ten-year written warranty. If you want a clean, contemporary, commercial-look floor that’s simple to keep spotless, a solid colour epoxy is the system to consider, and we’ll help you choose the colour and sheen at your free on-site quote.

Coating Systems for Solid Colour Epoxy Flooring

We recommend the right system for how you use the space and the condition of your slab. The systems best suited to solid colour epoxy flooring are:

  • Solid Colour EpoxyA clean, uniform single-colour high-build epoxy for a crisp commercial-look floor that brightens the space and cleans easily.
  • Polyaspartic CoatingsAliphatic polyurea coatings that cure fast and stay UV-stable — used as a high-performance topcoat or full build for speed and sun resistance.
  • Anti-Slip & Safety CoatingsGraded aggregate bound into a coating to deliver measurable AS 4586 slip resistance for ramps, wet areas, kitchens and pool decks.

Not sure which is right? Our coating systems guide compares durability, cost, UV stability and cure time side by side.

Surface Preparation Comes First

The single biggest factor in whether your solid colour epoxy flooring lasts is what happens before the coating goes down. We diamond-grind the concrete to the correct CSP 2–3 profile, moisture-test the slab, structurally repair cracks and joints, and apply a penetrating primer. Skipping any of this is exactly why cheap coatings bubble, peel and delaminate within months. Read more about how we prepare concrete.

Pricing & Timeframe

As a guide, solid colour epoxy flooring typically costs from around $40–$70 per , depending on the system, the size of the area and the condition of the concrete. Every quote is a fixed price confirmed after we inspect your floor in person — there are no hourly surprises. Most residential floors are completed in a few days, and every job is backed by our 10-year written warranty and $20 million public liability public liability cover.

    Free On-Site Quote

We visit your Sydney property, assess the floor area and condition, discuss the coating system options, and provide a written fixed-price quote. No obligation.

  2. 02

    Surface Preparation

We diamond-grind the concrete to the correct profile, test for moisture, repair any cracks or damage, and apply primer. This step decides whether your floor lasts 10 years or 10 months.

  3. 03

    Base Coat Application

The epoxy base coat is applied to the prepared surface. For flake systems, decorative chips are broadcast at this stage. For metallic systems, pigment and metallic powder are worked into the wet coat.

  4. 04

    Topcoat & Sealing

A clear polyurethane or polyaspartic topcoat is applied for protection, sheen and slip resistance. This is the surface you see and walk on.

  5. 05

    Cure & Handover

Light foot traffic typically within 24 hours, full vehicle or heavy traffic within 72 hours. We walk through the finished floor with you and leave the site clean.

Solid Colour Epoxy Flooring — FAQs

How much does solid colour epoxy cost?

Solid colour systems are typically $40 to $70 per square metre, making them the most affordable of our decorative finishes. Price depends on slab condition, area and the topcoat chosen. We provide a written fixed-price quote after inspecting the floor.

Will imperfections in my concrete show through?

A solid colour shows substrate unevenness more than a flake floor, which hides it. That’s why we put extra care into grinding, filling and fairing the slab during preparation. On a well-prepared floor the finish reads clean and even; we’ll be honest at the quote about what your particular slab will look like.

What colours are available?

A broad palette is available — light greys and beiges that brighten a space, mid-tones, deep charcoals, and workshop safety colours. We bring colour samples to your quote so you can choose in your own lighting.

How long does it take and when can I use it?

A standard garage takes two to three days including preparation, colour coat and topcoat. Light foot traffic is fine about 24 hours after the topcoat; vehicle traffic after roughly 72 hours. A polyaspartic topcoat shortens the return-to-service time.

Is solid colour epoxy slippery?

A high-gloss solid floor can be slick when wet. For laundries, wet areas or wash bays we add a fine anti-slip aggregate to the topcoat, or specify a satin finish, to improve grip without compromising the clean look.

How durable is a solid colour epoxy floor?

Very durable — the same mechanically bonded, high-build system as our other finishes, just without flake. It resists abrasion, chemicals and impact and lasts well over a decade in a domestic setting. We back it with a ten-year written warranty.

Can you repair cracks before applying it?

Yes. Cracks, pits and joints are routed and filled with structural epoxy and ground flush as part of preparation. Because solid colour hides less than flake, we’re particularly thorough with repairs so the finished floor looks seamless.

Is solid colour suitable indoors?

Definitely. It’s popular for internal laundries, gyms, studios, storerooms and utility areas as well as garages. For sun-exposed interiors we’ll recommend a UV-stable topcoat to keep the colour true.
